The 3-judge panel ruled that the conviction - for which Sheehan was fined $50 plus a $25 administrative fee - was based on law errors by the magistrate judge. Now a new trial has been ordered. However, the court rejected Sheehan's argument that the National Park Service's rules against demonstrating near the White House are unconstitutional on free speech grounds.
The 2005 protest drew over 200 people to demonstrate against the war.
Bush still hasn't learned, because most stupid people don't learn. But at least the protest helped draw more attention to how hopeless this war is.
