I've just been informed that former football player and GOP congressman Jack Kemp died today at the age of 73 after a long illness.Kemp, as you'll recall, was Bob Dole's running mate in his ill-fated 1996 presidential campaign.
Kemp was often considered a charismatic counterweight to the dour Dole. But this was overshadowed by his extremely conservative views on economic matters.
