Retail giants fined for not labeling useless TV's

The government hasn't responded too well to all the criticism of the forced conversion to digital TV. But thankfully, they're going after retailers who use the change as an opportunity to deceive consumers.

Regular TV's are going to be useless a year from now. That is, unless you buy an expensive converter - which only works with newer analog sets that break after 2 years anyway. However, many retail giants have failed to warn customers of this looming scam.

Now the FCC has fined retailers a total of millions of dollars for failing to put labels on analog TV's to warn folks that the sets won't work after next February. Among the retailers who have been caught are Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Kmart, and Sears. (Many of the usual suspects.) Obviously they were trying to sell their inventory and Make Money without letting anyone know the sets would soon be useless.

This after Big Business pushed for the conversion to digital.

I think the FCC also needs to start making retailers put labels on TV's that were made after about 2003 warning people that they break completely within 2 years - because they do.
