The far-right lobbying group Conservatives for Patients' Rights seems to be living by this rule: If you don't have facts on your side, just bombard everyone with lies.
CPR has been running an ad campaign throughout the United States attacking health care reform. The ads feature 2 British women who appear to be recounting negative experiences with Britain's public health care system.
Now these women say they were duped by CPR. CPR told them they were being interviewed for a documentary - not for a series of right-wing ads.
The women were actually supporting public health care - not denouncing it. They were describing their experiences because they wanted Britain's public system funded more - not replaced by the type of broken private system America has.
CPR's ads aren't going to be effective anyway. Most Americans have had not just one negative experience with American health care, but many. How many Americans are actually going to believe an organization that insists the country's health system is so perfect?
