Washington Times sued by former editor

When you think of daily papers that are singularly dedicated to advancing a right-wing agenda, the struggling Washington Times comes to mind. The Times was founded and is still owned by Sun Myung Moon's cult - the Unification Church - and looms large among Beltway insiders.

Now Richard Miniter, a former editor at the Times, is suing this so-called paper. He claims that - among other things - the paper forced him to attend a cult ceremony that featured a mass wedding conducted by Moon and tried pressuring him into joining the cult.

Um, yeah, Richard. Didn't you know the Times was owned by a right-wing cult when you went to work for it? Miniter is himself a far-right conservative, so how could he not have known the inner workings of the Right's hero paper?

That does not in any way justify the Times coercing him into attending cult activities. Clearly, the Times is in the wrong.

Back in 2007, Miniter was one of 6 right-wing authors who sued Eagle Publishing, which owned the far-right Regnery propaganda bandstand. The plaintiffs said Eagle sold their books through right-wing book clubs at a discount and deprived them of royalties.

Talk about a circular firing squad!
