Colorado Springs again???
Colorado Springs sounds like my county did circa 1989! It really is right-wing!
That town is the home of Colorado State Rep. Larry Liston (yes, a Republican). Yesterday the bumbling clod spouted off about unmarried pregnant teenagers. Liston waxed nostalgic about the bad old days, recalling that in the olden days, pregnant teens "were sent away, they were shunned, they were called what they are" and that "there was at least a sense of shame."
Well, Larry, maybe there's a reason that pretty much went out with the '50s. It's because sending pregnant teenagers away and shunning them was an ignorant and shameful way of dealing with the situation.
The legislator went on to say, "They're sluts. And I don't mean just the women. I mean the men too."
How adult contemporary of you, Larry.
Conservatives are actually trying to drag America back to those days, and of course the Free Republic loudmouths are praising Larry Liston for voicing what they've believed all along.
What a bunch of retrograde kooks!
