This guy's just incredible. And I don't mean that in a good way. He's incredible in that you just can't believe a word he says because he sounds like a nut. Jim DeMint is basically the South Carolina version of Oklahoma's Jim Inhofe.
DeMint is still going on about his favorite topic - namely, the city of Berkeley's efforts to evict a Marines recruiting station to stop the city's young people from being drawn into the war. If he just criticizes Berkeley's actions, it's one thing. You can do that and not come across as sounding too extreme. But listen to one of DeMoron's latest harangues about the story. He says, "Berkeley, California, is probably a very nice place to live, but the recent action of their City Council has consequences. To spit in the eyes of the United States Marine Corps will not stand."
This is the same tired lie we've been forced to listen to for 5 years: He falsely claims opposing the war is the same as attacking the brave men and women in uniform. He knows it's not true, but he's made such a spectacle of himself in claiming it that he can't even hear the whole country laughing at him.
More proof DeMint is lying? Supporters of Berkeley's move to evict the recruiting office expressed disgust over the fact that America's fighting men and women don't even receive enough support and care after they return home. Who sounds more supportive of the troops to you? Is it the Bushists like DeMint who never served in the military but insist America's young people get killed fighting their wars, or is it those of us who want all this death and injury to end?
The wingnutosphere is still crying, "It's an outrage!!!" over Berkeley's antiwar resolutions. But if they like the war so much, maybe they should enlist themselves instead of relying on Berkeley to send its citizenry into a war they don't want.
I appreciate America's troops. Too bad the Republican chickenhawks don't. I'm not the guy who made injured soldiers pay for their own flights home, so...STFU, GOP!

DeMint continues to entertain

Let those hippies in Berkeley keep their resolution saying military recruiters aren't welcome. But if an earthquake flattens the city, let them dig out without the National Guard's help.
