Nader poses serious challenge to McKinney

Finally, I've found some news about the Green primary: Ralph Nader defeated Cynthia McKinney in California by over 2-to-1, even though Nader hasn't declared his candidacy. McKinney won Arkansas and Illinois, however.

Also, there were irregularities in Illinois, as some locations lacked a Green ballot.

You know what? If the Democrats are so worried about the Greens being a spoiler, remember this: It's not the fault of Cynthia McKinney and Ralph Nader that Hillary Clinton is still a serious Democratic contender while John Edwards is not. The Democrats really screwed themselves in the foot by forcing Edwards out so early. I'm just as opposed to the Democrats' caving on issues - such as their refusal to repeal the '96 welfare "reform" law.

So the moral of the story is: Support instant runoff voting.

  1. What don't you like about welfare reform?

  2. Have you read what this law does, and what its effects have been? (I don't mean the right-wing media's version either.)

  3. I think the main points of it are it limited recipients to 5 years on welfare and gives control to states.

We need to move away from the welfare check system which has been a failure for decades. Creating more skilled jobs and improving education is the way to reduce poverty.
