BTPers caught lying about crowd size

What else are the Tea Party organizers lying about?

Saturday was supposed to be the Tea Party to end all Tea Parties. It wasn't just a city Tea Party. It wasn't just a state Tea Party. Why, it was a national Tea Party!

The wingnutosphere hyped this sore loser stampede on Washington for months. They predicted the biggest crowd ever to gather in the nation's capital.

They clung to this myth throughout the event. Organizer Matt Kibbe told the crowd that ABC had reported 1,000,000 to 1,500,000 people in attendance.

But that was a lie. It was debunked by, well, ABC.

After Kibbe made this claim, ABC pointed out that it had reported no such statistic. ABC had reported a crowd of only 60,000 to 70,000, based on fire department estimates.

Other firsthand observers reported about 20,000.

For such a heavily hyped and well-funded nationwide rally - which had decent weather - even 70,000 is laughably weak turnout.

But the facts haven't silenced the LOSEianne crowd. They completely ignore ABC's debunking of their claim. Now they're claiming the rally drew 2,000,000 people.

I think it was Mao Zedong who said that if you want people to believe a lie, don't tell just a teensy-weensy fib. Tell a real whopper. I guess the BTPers are living by Mao's maxim. (Commies, commies!)
