NFL commissioner Roger Goodell boasts that the league may see more TV blackouts of games this year, as ticket sales have plummeted sharply.
Goodell and the Associated Press blame the recession - not the one that's gone on for years, but the one they claim is only now beginning. The AP said the NFL is entering "its first full season in the economic downturn."
What?
You mean that recession that has lasted for years and is only now easing is all just a figment of our imagination?
I had no idea Phil Gramm got a job writing for the AP.
Maybe the real reason the NFL isn't selling as many tickets - which has led to the greed-driven blackouts - is that fans are fed up with being treated like criminals just to get into the stadium, while the NFL lets Michael Vick back in the league with a $1,600,000 contract.

No, that's really not why. AP and Roger Goodell are probably right.
