Biden: Bush bluster "bullshit"

Joe Biden - the longtime Democratic senator from Delaware - usually doesn't strike me as being much of a political heavyweight, but this time he's taken the gloves off. It's always big news when a senator calls Republican actions or statements "bullshit."

Earlier, Bush resorted to his usual propagandistic thought policing when he declared that anyone who votes for Barack Obama or any other Democrat is appeasing terrorists. I'm a registered Green, but it was clear Bush was engaging in the thought-quashing and right-wing demagoguery he's long been known for.

Following one of the particularly outrageous "election" disasters early in the decade, Joe Biden said fellow Democrats ought to just get over it, pretend the "election" wasn't rigged, and live with it. It was no wonder the Democrats became the Washington Generals of politics.

But Bush's latest tirade is too much even for a party that chose to make the least of its early-decade losing streak. Biden angrily said of Bush's statement, "This is bullshit. This is malarkey. This is outrageous." Biden correctly said of Bush, "He's the guy who's weakened us. He's the guy that's increased the number of terrorists in the world. His policies have produced this vulnerability the United States has."

Isn't it nice when a leading Democrat stands up? Savor this moment, because it's rare these days. I'm years and years past the threshold where I've started calling the Republicans' garbage "bullshit."

Perhaps a more important point is this: Is it really proper for the occupant of the White House (Bush) to attack American voters while campaigning for his party overseas?
