Doctors sued for botching colostomy reversal

Is anybody still going to insist BushAmerica has the perfect health care system that it claims to have? This is only the most recent story of the incredible incompetence that the broken American medical system is known for. We've got several others from the past few weeks we haven't had time to post yet.

In Dover, Delaware, a man is suing doctors because they botched a reversal of a temporary colostomy that he had undergone earlier. The 3 surgeons stapled his colon to his bladder instead of his rectal stump, causing feces to shoot out his penis and urine to go through his colon.

A Philadelphia doctor said that even though the bladder and the rectal stump are close to each other, mistakes like this simply "shouldn't happen." But under today's health care system, they do. What's really astonishing is that with 3 doctors performing the surgery, not a single one caught the error.

While conservatives want to ban malpractice suits, they apparently think blunders like this aren't a problem. Otherwise they wouldn't be so dead set against any effort to move the American health care system closer to what the rest of the industrialized world enjoys.

  1. Not indicative.

Still you haven't offered a single suggestion on how the American medical system needs fixed.

Work harder, Tim. You can do it.
