Schwarzenegger blocks health care reform

Arnold Schwarzenegger (judging by the photo) ain't exactly in shape anymore, so I wouldn't exactly trust him to be a health care expert. But I guess he thinks he is.

For the second time in 3 years, Gov. Schwarzenegger has vetoed a bill that would have given California a universal health care system.

Why is it that the same type of universal health care program that every other industrialized nation has is taboo in America? Well, according to Jerry Flanagan of Consumer Watchdog, the health insurance industry has given over $1,000,000 to the embattled Republican actor-turned-governor.

Just as bad as this, Schwarzenegger vetoed a bill that would have generally barred health insurers from retroactively canceling policies. (Insurers have already revoked the policies of thousands, which has become a scandal.)

He even vetoed a bill that would've cracked down on "balance billing", which I call balance stealing. This is the practice of greedy HMO's going after patients for money they don't owe, when insurers don't pay what they're supposed to.

The greed never ceases under the GOP, does it?
