Fox incites threats by lying about Pledge ban

Recently, Fox News reported that a school in Arlington, Massachusetts, had banned the Pledge of Allegiance.

But this story has (not unpredictably) turned out to be an out-and-out lie - and Fox refused to retract the story.

The result of the bogus story? The school and members of the school board have now received threats of violence from Fox viewers. Some of these threats are anti-Semitic.

Fox's report occurred after followers of the local Republican Party disrupted a school committee meeting by shouting vulgarities at committee members.

  1. What skewed priorities we have in this country? I remember a Usenet joke-sharing site where you could find jokes that offended any racial or religious group, and you could even find jokes about the Holocaust. However, when a user posted to ask if anyone knew any obscene or off-color lyrics for "The Star-Spangled Banner," everyone jumped on him and threatened him with grave bodily harm if they ever met him in person. (My first reaction when I see people rising for the national anthem is, "Look at all these stupid robots praying to a piece of cloth."
