Spoiled brats accused of traveling world on stolen money

This is the story of 2 spoiled brats who had everything handed to them from the moment they were born onward. But it still wasn't enough for them. So - according to authorities - they stole. And they traveled the world on the money they allegedly swiped.

He's a 25-year-old Ivy Leaguer with an economics degree. She's a 22-year-old daughter of a highly paid plastic surgeon. A Philadelphia detective called them "2 young people that were given many gifts in life", including the finest schools and fawning, cooing families. But he added that "the very best thing they could do was victimize other people." The pair allegedly broke into homes, stole residents' identities, and used that to commit fraud to the tune of over $100,000, which they used for lavish vacation trips to the Caribbean, Europe, and Hawaii.

It makes no sense. If they'd lived lives of destitution prior to their alleged crimes and genuinely thought stealing was the only way they'd ever get ahead, it would mitigate much of my disgust for them. It wouldn't make their actions right, but I'd feel a lot less angry. But they're spoiled. I would bet you they never did any real work their whole lives. Not one bit. So they thought they could just steal because they had a sense of entitlement.

I had to get a job when I was 17. But they're 22 and 25 and have almost certainly never contributed shit to society.

A lawyer said the case has "obviously been a difficult, taxing process" for the young woman and her family. Boo hoo fucking hoo. Did her family ever set boundaries for her? When you're growing up, there's supposed to be discipline. Discipline isn't necessarily the same as punishment. Sometimes it just means you work hard and learn life's lessons from it.

If the defendants are guilty, I hope the court throws the book at them. At least some prison time appears likely. I don't think federal prisoners are allowed to vote, so at least that's 2 less votes for the Republicans for the next few years.

Unfortunately, I don't expect them to do much time. Look at their photo, and look at mine. They even look privileged; I don't. Do you seriously think they'll get as much time as I would if I had committed identity theft and stolen $100,000? There's a whole system in place to go easy on people if they're well-off while making criminals of everyone else.
