School portrait firm defaces photos

Maturity is such a distant memory these days that the adults now are less mature than the kids!

If you hear of a high school yearbook being released with hundreds of photos defaced, a lot of people would probably attribute this to some infantile student in the yearbook club. But at one school, this shenanigan was pulled off by the company that made the book.

Lifetouch is a Minnesota company that does school portraits and produces yearbooks. But photos of almost 600 students at McKinney High School in Texas were altered by Lifetouch: The heads of male students were placed on female students' bodies - and vice versa. One student's arm was lopped off, and another appeared to be naked.

Lifetouch apologized and agreed to foot the $80,000 bill for redoing the book. They say their standard practice is not to alter any photos. But they admit they "misinterpreted guidelines for the yearbook." You mean the school actually wanted a fucked-up book?

I don't know whether Lifetouch was involved with my high school yearbooks (although Lifetouch has a lion's share of the market), but somebody sure as shit touched up the photos. Probably my school, thinking it would look more "contemporary" if they changed the portraits. But if they wanted us to look more "contemporary", they should have fixed their stupid dress code.
