McCain tells everyone to get a second job

How out of touch is this man on matters economic?

According to one of McCain's own speeches printed on his website, the Republican standard-bearer blames the foreclosure crisis on people not working hard enough.

What's his remedy for the nationwide foreclosure pandemic? He says that if you have a job now, get a second job. And cancel your vacation you worked so hard for.

Seriously, he said that.

Then again, how can you find a second job when there aren't even enough first jobs? Have you seen the unemployment numbers lately?

If there's anything that reinforces the old image of Republicans being dour, out-of-touch elites who don't know anything about how working Americans live, this is it.

  1. Tim! What did I tell you about blogging about other blogs? You should be doubly careful about going by what a blogger named "Zwoof" says, for you have been found GUILTY of misrepresenting the words of a Republican enemy!

What McCain actually said was in praise of the 51 million of 55 million households with mortgages who are NOT in foreclosure trouble. His actual words were:

"Of those 80 million homeowners, only 55 million have a mortgage at all, and 51 million are doing what is necessary -- working a second job, skipping a vacation, and managing their budgets -- to make their payments on time."

From now on, Tim, I want you to be more careful. The People are counting you and if we can't count on you who can we count on?

  2. Scheffy,

McLame said "working a second job" is "necessary"...

Why should "working a second job" be "necessary" just to PUT A ROOF OVER YOUR HEAD????

    THAT is the problem!!

  3. It is a problem, but it's better than facing foreclosure.

  4. Actually foreclosure isn't as bad as working your life away. You just lose a house and gain an apartment. Two years later your credit will be back up and no more yard-work.

I used to really like McCain, but I don't pay attention to him anymore. He is pandering to the wrong crowd. I don't care what he said about a second job, he has lost a lot of moderate votes with his so-called "conservative" pandering. What is so conservative about driving a big SUV, living in a mansion and going to Disneyland every year? Sounds more like extremely liberal activities if you ask me. And I suppose we can thank the republican party for diminishing the government like they so often claim.... Oh wait, I guess they actually grew the government. How are they considered conservative republicans at all ??? And that war we are in is pretty darn expensive too... why did we invade Iraq unilaterally again???

    Conservatives?

Nope...Fascists are at the wheel and we are being taken for a ride, despite what we may title ourselves.
