Elderly woman jailed for failing to waste water

This story is a couple months old, but stuff like this needs to be shifted forward from the backburner once in a while just to show you how petty the system is.

In ultraconservative Orem, Utah - a town known for hassling younger people for having pink hair - a 70-year-old woman was arrested and jailed all because she failed to water her lawn. In other words, authorities wanted her to waste water during one of the area's worst water shortages in modern times. During the arrest, a police officer apparently hit her with handcuffs and cut her nose, forcing her to be treated at a hospital before being taken to jail.

So this is how our seniors get treated by the government nowadays?

Not only would it have used up valuable agua to water the lawn, but the woman was also too poor to afford the water bills.
