Huckabee supporter urges death of critics

Much clatter is generated by the Far Right about the IRS allegedly muzzling pastors who endorse conservative causes and political candidates. But anyone who investigates the issue can see it's just more right-wing sour grapes. The IRS rules state that congregations may endorse all the candidates they want - but if they do, they can't keep their tax-exempt status. Nowhere does it call for putting pastors in jail. The rules apply to conservative and liberal candidates alike.

Rev. Wiley Drake is a right-wing minister at First Southern Baptist Church in Buena Park, California, and a big supporter of right-wing former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee for President. Drake also held a high-ranking executive position in the Southern Baptist Convention. Drake is such a big fan of Fuckapee that he used church stationery and his Internet audio stream to endorse him. That he's allowed to do - but it's questionable whether his church can still maintain its IRS tax-exempt status for it. That comes down to whether he issued the endorsement in his own name or that of his church. (Seeing how he used church stationery and all, it doesn't look good.)

Americans United for Separation of Church and State weren't convinced that Drake was acting within the tax-exempt guidelines. So they urged the IRS to look into the matter.

So what's a big crybaby like Drake to do? He asked his congregants to pray for the deaths of 3 individuals involved in Americans United. The dour minister declared, "The prayer does call for serious, serious punishment on people. But I didn't call for that. God did."

Kind of reminds me of my old high school yammering about how God said this and God said that and God told them to give me 5 demerits for telling some prep to stop throwing stuff during freshman exams and so on and so on and so on.

Drake's demand for his followers to summon God's wrath appeared on his Internet stream, in a news release he put out, and in an e-mail to the very people he wanted killed. (Ooh, threats! What a big man!)

Since Drake is a supporter of right-wing candidates, after all, and backers of right-wing causes usually consider themselves "messengers of God", it's pretty clear he's trying to incite people to kill the Americans United folks. Right-wing whack-a-doos like Drake often use religion as a euphemistic cloak for their demands.

All because this nut thought he didn't have to follow IRS regulations like everyone else.

(Also, if you click on the story below, notice that Mike Huckabee looks just like Bob from 'Sesame Street'.)
