Part of Idiot Act overturned!

This is music to my ears!

Today wasn't a good day for the spittle crowd, because they just saw one of their favorite achievements - the Patriot Act - chipped away as it so richly deserved.

The revised version of the Idiot Act unconstitutionally allowed the FBI to make Internet companies turn over customers' records without even telling them - without the type of court order that's required for other government searches. But not anymore! Following a lawsuit by the ACLU, U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero struck down that part of the Idiot Act, saying the government needs court approval before they can do such a thing.

The court also struck down part of the Idiot Act that required folks who were contacted by the FBI to keep the fact that they were contacted a secret. The judge correctly ruled that this gag order violated the First Amendment.

We haven't monitored Freak Rethuglic yet today to see how they're reacting to one of their favorite laws being weakened, but we can already hear the spittle bubbling up from miles away.

Naturally, the Bush regime is considering appealing the court's verdict. The irony of the government squandering the people's money to fight the people is chilling.

Meanwhile, the broken-promise Congress has yet to repeal the Patriot Act like it was elected to do.
