More Jean Schmidt plagiarism

I'm shocked! Shocked, I tell ya! (Snicker.)

Yes, this is the same Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio) who insulted John Murtha's military service and later plagiarized a press release about Medicare written by another member of Congress.

Now Schmidt has plagiarized another piece. This time Schmidt ripped off a column by former Ohio State Highway Patrol Col. Paul McClellan about bus safety.

McClellan's column: "When exiting the bus, care should be taken to check that clothing with drawstrings and book bags with straps do not get caught in the handrails or doors. Additionally, students should never go back for anything left on the bus, and never bend down near or under the bus to pick something up that has fallen."

Schmidt's column: "When exiting the bus, care should be taken to check that clothing with drawstrings and book bags with straps do not get caught in the handrails or doors. Additionally, students should never go back for anything left on the bus, and never bend down near or under the bus to pick something up that has fallen."

Am I seeing double here, or did Jean Schmidt really copy that section verbatim and claim it as her own?

How lazy can you be? Even a third grader is expected to not be so robotic as to copy written works word for word.

I know the advice in the article should be heeded, but that doesn't make the congresswoman look any less silly for lifting someone else's article. Sometimes we wonder if Jean Schmidt doesn't have some serious disorder that makes her just drift through life without ever thinking about anything.

  1. I am at a loss why you Americans put up with such corruption among your politicians. Forgery and libel are crimes punishable by 15 years of torture and hard labour here in the Syrian Arab Republic, and rest assured that this Shmidt would be punished accordingly here. However you do not have a great leader as we do. I pray to Allah that in 2008 you will find such a great leader that will lead the people with a steel fist and an iron will.
