Drudge lies about Edwards health plan

Surprise, surprise!

That whole stink about John Edwards allegedly saying he would order all Americans to visit a doctor turned out to be nothing but sour grapes. It turns out the major media got its poop from Drudge Report, which deliberately misrepresented what Edwards said. Isn't it nice to know the dinosaur press relies on Drudge Report (which has been discredited on countless other issues before) instead of what Edwards actually said? If this doesn't prove that the news is filtered and prescreened by the right-wing noise machine, what does?

What Edwards actually supported was requiring insurers to cover preventive measures - not looking over people's shoulders to make sure they see a doctor (which would have been unenforceable anyway). I'm sure he'd encourage people to see a doctor for preventive care, just because it saves money and lives. But the Drudgebot victim fantasy of John Edwards calling up physicians and telling them to go and beat someone's door down and drag them kicking and screaming to the local medical complex is unfounded.

If the wingnutosphere is so worried about this, why don't they raise a peep about the real money-grubbing mass medication schemes that are already imposed through our schools (which utterly pulverize personal choices)?

  1. It was the Associated Press that wrote the story, not Matt Drudge.

  10. It doesn't say it originated from Drudge. All it mentions is the headline appearing on Drudge Report.

  11. Everybody is really missing the point- The media (whether Drudge, AP, or whoever) misled the public about what John Edwards said. They did it in bad faith.

  15. Look fellas, I'm gonna tell you how it is and how it needs to be. I come here every 15 minutes, morning, noon and night. I'm innocently looking for some juicy gossip from the entertainment industry. You know, maybe a bitter Hollywood divorce or some information on who got Halle Berry pregnant. That kind thing. The usual stuff people need to know about. Instead all I see day after day is a bunch of angry tirades about some political mumbo jumbo and how somebody needs to do something about something because they don't like it. Meanwhile, a bunch of loudmouths are spatting off at each other with accusations and stern words. How can we expect for the world to get along with itself if we can't even have some peace here in the comments section of this wonderful blog? Is this the example you want to set for other cultures? For example: The Chinese. And what about the children? The children are our future. Abraham Lincoln believed this and you should too. We all have learned a valuable lesson from reading this blog that children are not allowed to go swimming at the beach and they can't be trusted with magic markers. That's sad. That's real sad, my friends. Do we have to ruin this for them also? I believe that can be avoided if we'd all just embrace the message that the creator of the Online Lunchpail envisioned from the beginning. And that is that we all just need to love and embrace each other. I agree with the underlying principle of this blog that this is a wonderful world and a beautiful country that we live in. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one who understands what the Online Lunchpail is all about. I could go on and on, but the point is we need to forget about our differences and make peace. It doesn't matter if we're black or white, man or woman, anorexically skinny or morbidly obese and in need of government-supported health care, communist or vegetarian. Deep down we all know that everything is alright just the way it is. We all just have a love of life. It's a miraculous thing, it is. Such joy. Now, and this where it gets serious. To show that love and understanding I really think somebody ought to provide catering for the regular readers of this blog. There's quite a few of us by the looks of it. A nice, tender steak would really hit the spot. Maybe a baked potato with butter and sour cream, some carrots and a bowl of fruit on the side. Fried ice cream and coffee for dessert. I know you're thinking what I'm thinking, that that sounds real good. That's because it is. Well, all I got right now is grits. You can argue all you want about politics, but you can't top a good meal. Do you realize that there are certain medical procedures and tests where they will not allow you to eat anything for 8 to 24 hours before except for a liquid diet? Can you imagine that? It kind of makes you wonder what we're fighting for with the wars and all, doesn't it? And if you mess up and just eat a few crackers thinking it won't hurt, well, the doctor asks you if you ate anything and you say "yes, but just a little" and he says "dammit I told you not eat anything but some broth and drink 7UP." The test is ruined and you have to start over. No eating for 8-24 hours. I'll leave you with that to think about.
