Kristol hired as New York Times commentator

The maxim that there are actually fewer than 5 conservafools in the entire United States almost seems to ring true: Instead of discovering new potential entries to be named Conservative Fool Of The Day, I notice the old entries just keep doing the same stupid shit over and over.

Let's get one thing straight: The New York Times is not a liberal paper. Someone pointed out here before that it endorsed Al Gore in 2000, but that's about as far its liberalness goes. (If it was as liberal as people think, it would have endorsed Nader.) Just last month, the Times caved to the Bush regime's bullying when the dictator made the paper change the subheader of an article about the CIA tape destruction scandal.

Now the Times has hired Weekly Standard founder and Faux News commentator William Kristol as op-ed writer. Kristol was named Conservative Fool Of The Day once because he doesn't know how to read party labels when he goes to vote (which caused him to accidentally vote Communist) and for attacking John Warner for not supporting Bush's illegal war strongly enough.

There's plenty of reasons to call Bill Kristol a conservafool. According to Katha Pollitt, Kristol actually blamed U.S. liberals for Khomeini and absurdly claimed that Osama bin Laden supported John Kerry's presidential bid. Kristol isn't much of a real pundit; he's more of a bully and agitator. If you're a commentator as Kristol is, you should use facts and build on these to advance your opinions (which is what I do here). But Kristol doesn't have facts - he has propagandistic sound bites like "OMG the libs caused khomeini LOLOLOL!"

If the New York Times can still be called liberal after hiring someone like Bill Kristol who's not only an extreme conservative but offers little real insight, it's further proof that the center of debate keeps shuffling ever rightward.
