More evidence the Republicans have truly gone batshit

Their tirades to the contrary notwithstanding, the GOP doesn't have the things going for it now that it had in 1994.

In 1994, dissenters against the GOP order could say, what have the Republicans done? Today, we can say, what have the Republicans done that doesn't make them sound bugfuck crazy?

A new poll by Research 2000 reveals that more Kentucky Republicans believe Obama is foreign-born than not. I swear I'm not making this up.

According to this poll, only 30% of GOP cultists in the Bluegrass State say they believe the President is American-born. Yet 36% say they believe he is not. The remaining 34% are undecided.

I guess it's finally happened: The Republicans have gone cowplop loony.

One must often view even scientific polls with a grain of salt, as the methodology usually features an inordinately large sample of Republicans. But this mind-numbing statistic counts only Republicans from the get-go. The percentage of Democrats, independents, and others who believe Obama is a foreign national is laboriously small.

This bodes ill for the GOP's future prospects. But it also shows that the ignorance and insanity that seems prevalent in the American electorate is accounted for primarily by the Republican base.

  1. A political party is another thing the GOP had going for it in 1994 that it doesn't now.
