Druggings continue to increase

Has the United States become the world's leader in drugging of children? Compared to the U.K., it seems that way.

A new British study says American children take antipsychotic drugs at a rate 6 times that of children in the United Kingdom. In both countries, the rate is rising rapidly. In Britain, the rate nearly doubled between 1992 and 2005 - so even if you don't have experience with this racket, you can tell already it's overprescribed in America by at least 12 to 1.

Now let's lean back, relax, and watch the programmies ignore this story or accuse the Associated Press of making it up altogether. Net result? This story will be swept under the rug soon like all the others like it, and we'll have to do another entry like this a month from now that says nearly the same thing.

Big Medicine will continue to hawk its products as long as stories like this are censored.

It's also important to note that this article is about antipsychotics, a class of drugs that does not include standard ADHD toxins like Ritalin. But the principle is the same. If a drug is an antipsychotic, shouldn't it be for people who suffer from psychosis, and not for those who do not? That's why they call them antipsychotics. The number of American children taking antipsychotics is high enough that it has to be higher than the number who have major psychotic symptoms and certainly higher than the number who would actually benefit from drugs. These are children we're talking about here, not adults.

Furthermore, the drugs covered by this study have potentially life-threatening side effects and haven't even been approved for children.
