Europe may slash handouts for rich

I talk a lot about fleecings of America. But did you know there's a fleecing of Europe too?

Under the undemocratic EU, the wealthiest landowners and agribusiness firms get free Toy Money (like in that old Coke commersh). Except it's real money. Each year, some of the richest individuals and businesses in Europe get an annual handout disguised as a farm subsidy - at the expense of small farmers and other taxpayers in the EU's member countries. The Queen of England - one of the richest people in the world - gets £544,000 yearly. (Based on the current exchange rate, this is about $1,140,442. Windsor Castle alone nets the monarch £140,000.) Prince Charles gets £225,000. Numerous agribusiness robber barons and nobility also receive a hefty gift from the EU. Some 80% of the payouts go to the richest 20% of landowners.

But now the European Commission is coming up with plans to reduce this welfare for the rich - somewhat. Under this proposal, the biggest handouts to the wealthy and powerful may be reduced by up to 45%. A rich landowner who now gets $1,000,000 a year in free cash will now only get $550,000 a year. Uh-oh, they're gonna starve!

Back in 2003, an even bolder attempt was made to reform this system of handouts for the rich - but the governments of Britain and Germany blocked it.

If the current plan becomes a reality, hopefully America will follow suit by ending corporate welfare and handouts of free land for wealthy exurbanites.
