Students face expulsion for opposing war

Well, golly gee, students got lied to by school officials. Surprise, surprise.

At Morton West High School in Berwyn, Illinois, over 70 pupils participated in a sit-in Thursday against the war. As is commonly the case in postdemocratic America, the school overreacted to this peaceful demonstration, and police got involved immediately. The students were then told that the only offense they'd get in trouble for would be skipping class, as long as they took their protest outside. They complied - but the school lied.

Now 19 of the students are facing a long suspension or even expulsion. The school system also plans to file criminal charges against those who are at least 17. For what???

It's obvious the school wants to expel all 70, but it can't, because then the school would probably have so few students remaining it would have to be shut down.

It sounds like the school is pretty much incompetent at handling any crisis. Last month, the school shrugged off serious reports of a gun on campus. Now the school is threatening to require the wearing of uniforms.

Of course, if it was a pro-war rally, nobody ever would have gotten in trouble. I think everyone knows that.
