It's official: Bye Ernie!

Ladies and gentlemen, Kentucky's long national nightmare is over!

As of now, Kentucky's gubernatorial election has been officially called for Democrat Steve Beshear - ending the reign of corrupt Republican Ernie Fletcher.

You don't know how good this feels!

There's nothing like leaning back and listening to the election results with a big plate of West Virginia pepperoni rolls. (I'm having West Virginia pepperoni rolls because I remember how West Virginia came through on Election Day in 1988 when few other states did.) It's always fun to lean back in my office chair humming that Henry Mancini tune that the networks always used to use for election coverage, while the Republicans get destroyed! Damn, but life is good these days!

Also, the Kentucky Auditor and Attorney General elections have been called for the Democrats. (The wingnut with John Oates's mustache who sent me all that e-mail spam got absolutely demolished!)

  1. By the way, Beshear won Campbell County by 12%!!!

Who would have ever thought that??? This is Gary Bauer country, y'know.

  2. They called Kentucky Treasurer for the Democrats too - thus leaving only 2 Republicans in Kentucky's state constitutional offices.

  3. By the way, Fletcher still managed to win Boone County by 2%. So now they're gonna be the next laughed-at county.

  4. Beshear even won Kenton County by 10%!

It looks like he won statewide by about 18%.

  5. Also, it's worth noting that even without the merit system scandal, Fletcher still would have lost. Eighteen percent is a big margin these days.

  6. What's the word on Hamilton County jail?

  7. I was just about to do an entry on that. It looks like there might be more good news looming!
