Democrats may reach 60 Senate seats

Yes, it can happen: After the November election, the Democrats may end up with 60 of the 100 U.S. Senate seats - the magic number they need to stave off Republican filibusters.

It might not seem likely, but it's very possible, and it would be historic. The Democratic margin is considered 51 to 49 now, because the 2 independents caucus with the Democrats (although one of them kisses Bush's ass every chance he gets). At this time in 2006, I told people there was a good chance the Democrats could regain control of both houses of Congress (which were both in Republican hands then), and they looked at me like I had a King Don growing out of my forehead. But the Democrats did take both houses.

Not like it got our side anywhere, because the Michael Mukasey-loving Democrats in Congress now don't know what a mandate is, but you get the point.

The last time any party had a 60% majority of the Senate was during the Carter years.

Mitch McConnell might be one of the Republicans who loses this year. That would just be the icing on the cake, wouldn't it? I've wanted to see Mitch the Glitch lose for over 20 years! I think it's within striking distance this time!

If it accomplishes nothing else, at least a 60% Democratic majority would send the GOP off into one of their hilarious sore loser shitfits to amuse us.
