School bars student from council over blog post

A public high school in Burlington, Connecticut, has displayed its hostility not only to free speech but also to keeping its nose out of what happens off school grounds.

A student from this school wrote on her blog that "'Jamfest' is canceled due to douchebags in central office", referring to the school's administration. She didn't use the school's computers or website to post this. The posting was completely independent of school.

Despite the blog being run from outside of school, the school refused to allow her to run for class secretary because of it. She won anyway from write-in votes, but the fascists who run the school wouldn't let her serve.

If only my first high school knew the stuff I said about it on BBS's! Then maybe I wouldn't have had to wait 3 years to get expelled. And we might be a lot better off now.

Believe it or not, U.S. District Judge Mark Kravitz sided with the school in the Connecticut case. Maybe Kravitz hates the First Amendment. But that wouldn't be surprising, because he was appointed by lying shitsack Bush, who also hates the First Amendment.

This case is another example of schools thinking they can keep students in suspended animation 24/7. Schools today think of students as their property. Schools run the show, because most folks have become afraid to stand up to them.

If a decent President is elected, the new President and Congress are going to have to take a serious look at the damage caused by Bush's judicial appointees.
