Racist cop sues over suspension

If there's one place where the public has a right to see high standards of professionalism, it's among the police.

But every story like this builds mistrust of police all over the land.

Recently a Boston police officer was suspended because he sent a racist e-mail regarding Henry Louis Gates to a local newspaper.

But now - get this - the officer is suing the police department and the mayor for suspending him. He claims the suspension caused him "post-traumatic stress" and - ironically enough - violated his civil rights.

He sent a racist e-mail and then complains about his own civil rights allegedly being violated?

He also claims the city "conspired" to infringe on his "property rights."

What "property rights" is he talking about??? The city didn't take his house and turn it over to Wal-Mart, so it's unclear what this refers to.

If getting suspended from a job is all it takes to give him PTSD, what business does he have even being a cop? PTSD results from war, violent crime, or a pattern of abuse. Not from being suspended at work for something YOU did.
