Cop in YouTube video suspended

Guess what? No sooner did I post the entry about the video of the out-of-control Baltimore policeman roughing up a 14-year-old for skateboarding in public that it was announced that the officer was suspended with pay while the department investigates.

Frankly, I didn't have high hopes that anything would come of it. And I still don't. Suspending someone from their job with pay is like suspending someone from school while giving them a 100% grade on all the work they miss. The incident was caught on video, but things like this have been captured on video before only to end with no action taken against those who abused their position.

Even the mayor called the officer's behavior "unacceptable", but still I know better than to expect justice to prevail. It's possible that the truth will win, of course, but don't bet on it.

Of course, the spittle crowd has been e-mailing TV stations in support of the officer's actions, as they cry that the video is just a big hoax by "the liberals" and all.
