Momentum moves towards Obama and Romney

People have asked me to do a running set of entries on the presidential primaries, and I think it's wise to oblige.

So here's how it stands right now: The 2 major parties are pretty much both 2-person contests right now. The media has wanted all along for the nominees to be Hillary Clinton and John McCain, because that's about the only way in hell the GOP has any chance of winning in November. In fact, the media was practically assuming a year ago that it would be Clinton versus McCain, and that if we didn't like it, we could stuff it.

But now it looks like the November contest might not be between the guy with an anger management problem and the wife of the man who presided over the near-collapse of a major party. (I know Hillary Clinton is not Bill Clinton, but the mere association is enough for many.) With Super Tuesday coming up tomorrow, the momentum is instead surging towards Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.

I hope that is true! Then we're almost guaranteed of seeing the Republicans lose in November. It won't even be close. But after the voting machines in New Hampshire somehow spat out a Clinton primary victory there, who knows? (You know that was rigged because Obama was safely ahead in surveys and because New Hampshire has so many Republican bosses who actually want Clinton to be the Democratic nominee.)

I'm still not sure who the Green standard-bearer will be, but Cynthia McKinney appears to be the frontrunner now - unless Jim Hightower runs.
